FAQs
How is Keane different from my CPA?
Your CPA is typically focused on taxes and compliance. Keane focuses on the financial management of your practice throughout the year. We make sure your books are accurate, close your financials monthly, and help you understand what the numbers mean so you can make better business decisions. We work alongside your tax CPA, not against them. When they need backup, we have it ready.
Are you only working with medical practices?
For now, yes. We specialize in accounting and advisory for medical practices. That focus means we understand the financial questions practice owners face, including provider profitability, physician compensation, overhead, medical supplies, staffing, multiple locations, and growth.
What size practices do you work with?
We’re best suited for established medical practices generating approximately $1 million to $15 million in annual revenue. We specialize in multi-provider financial statements.
How much does Keane cost?
Every medical practice is different. Your fee depends on the size and complexity of your practice, number of providers and entities, transaction volume, and the level of reporting and advisory support you need.
Most Keane clients invest $1k–$5k per month for ongoing accounting and advisory services.
We’re already profitable. Why would we need Keane?
Being profitable doesn’t necessarily mean you’re as profitable as you should be. Can you clearly answer: Is our overhead too high? Which providers or services make us the most money? Where is our cash going? Can we afford another hire? How much can the owners safely take out? That’s where good accounting becomes much more than bookkeeping.
My books are a mess. Do I need to clean them up before calling you?
No. That’s often why practices come to us. We’ll figure out where things stand, identify what needs to be fixed, and create a plan to get your accounting accurate, current, and useful again. No judgment.
How do I know if we’ve outgrown our current accounting?
If your practice has grown but your accounting hasn’t, you’ll usually feel it. Financials arrive late. You don’t completely trust the numbers. You’re making big decisions based on your bank balance. You can’t easily see profitability by provider. Or you only hear from your accountant around tax time. Your practice has become a sophisticated business. Your accounting should operate like one too.
Can you work with our existing bookkeeper or practice manager?
Absolutely. We don’t automatically replace your existing team. Sometimes we handle the accounting completely. Other times we provide oversight, financial reporting, and Controller-level support while your internal team handles day-to-day tasks.
Will you work with our tax CPA?
Yes. We aren’t trying to replace a tax relationship that’s working well. We keep your accounting clean throughout the year and coordinate with your CPA so tax planning and tax preparation aren’t a scramble at year-end. We also have several tried and trusted CPA referrals to choose from.
What will I actually receive every month?
Depending on your practice and service level, your reporting may include monthly financial statements, provider-level reporting, overhead analysis, KPIs, cash flow forecasting, budget vs. actuals, and regular financial discussions. The goal isn’t to send you more reports. It’s to help you understand what the numbers mean and keep you compliant year-round.
